Angle Parking

Saw this one early today and I just had to take a photo.

This morning the city was covered in a thick blanket of fog from 6.00am to 9.30am. With visibility up to 150 metres only, about 25 early morning flights in and out were affected. I took the photo above at 8.30 and jumped back into bed.

Day at the NGV

Last weekend, having turned a year older, I treated myself to a day trip in Melbourne to see, among others, the exhibition in this year's Melbourne Winter Masterpieces at the National Gallery of Victoria. Currently on show is a collection of 20th - 21st Century art from the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The Guggenheim Collection: 1940s to Now is on show until 7 October.

I generally am not a big fan of contemporary art but to see up close the works of acclaimed artists including Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Agnes Martin, to name a few, was too good to pass up.

However, my favourite is Roy Lichtenstein's 1968 painting, Preparedness. I was just floored when I saw this amazing 3-panel painting. A next favourite is Agnes Martin's White Floor, 1960.

An interesting exhibit was Felix Gonzales-Torres' 'Untitled' (Public Opinion) 1991. It consisted of a large pile of liquorice candy placed at a corner of the hall. Visitors were allowed to help themselves to the candy (but not eat within the exhibition area).

Overall, it was a nice ME-time spent in Melbourne.

Another year . . .

... of looking forward to things and new experiences. But what age do I act?

You Are 28 Years Old

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.
13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.
20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.
30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!
40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

You Were Born Under:

Resourceful and practical, you are a quick thinker.
You are very observant - and it's hard to get anything past you!
A total perfectionist, you are especially picky about looking your best.
You're a big dreamer - such a big dreamer that reality can disappoint you.

Two years hence ...

Two years ago on this day, I finished and submitted my thesis for assessment. Autumn of 2005 was the most stressful ever. But in hindsight, the most rewarding.

Organised chaos - how my workspace (dining table) in the flat looked then when I was in the thick of things. It was wonderful!
